It does impart a great deal of relief when someone of importance recognizes you when you’re in trouble. But things are quite different when this person is the prophet Muhammad and the event is The Day of Judgment!
Abu Hurayrah reports: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) went to the (Baqi`) cemetery and said, “May you be secured from punishment, O dwellers of abode of the believers! We, if Allah wills, will follow you. I wish we see my brothers.” The Companions said, “O Messenger of Allah! Are not we your brothers?” He said, “You are my Companions, but my brothers are those who have not come into the world yet.” They said; “O Messenger of Allah! How will you recognize those of your Ummah who are not born yet?”
He said, “Say, if a man has white-footed horses with white foreheads among horses which are pure black, will he not recognize his own horses?” They said; “Certainly, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “They (my followers) will come with bright faces and white limbs because of Wudu; and I will arrive at the Haud (Al-Kauthar) ahead of them.”
So now that we are in winter, you may need an extra push to keep renewing your wudu because of the cold weather which is undoubtedly a hardship. But having known this, there’s no greater motivation to keep up this sunnah, even though you’re freezing cold!
He (pbuh) also says: “I will be the first to be called to prostrate on the Day of Resurrection. I will be the first to be called to raise his head and I will look in front of me. I will recognize my nation among the nations, from behind me, to my right and to my left.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, how will you recognize your nation among the nations from Noah until now?”
The Prophet said, “They will have radiant streaks from the traces of ablution. No one will have that but them. I will recognize them when they are given their records in their right hands, and I will recognize them as their descendants run before them.”
Our prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the most merciful and kindest of people, who loved good for us and was keen for us to be happy and prosper. We will never find anything more true than the words of Allah which speak of that:
“Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad pbuh )from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad pbuh) is anxious over you; for the believers full of pity, kind, and merciful”
Brothers and sisters, having learned that..
Do you have some personal input on how to maintain this sunnah?
