Why Allah singles out fajr prayer?

Allah places importance on performing each of the five daily prayers during their designated times – none more so than Fajr, or dawn, prayer.

Fajr prayers mark the beginning of the day and call on people to fight their natural inclination to continue sleeping and to get up at dawn and strive to place themselves in the Divine presence before Allah.

Company of Angels!

Worshippers who pray Fajr should rejoice because they are in the company of Angels. Such people should be celebrated and Allah is said to boast about them.

“Look at My servant, he has left his bed and risen up for his prayer, only out of desire for what is with Me and a consideration for what is from Me,” says a Hadith Qudsi (Prophetic saying as revealed to him by Allah).

These Angels bear witness to the prayers of worshippers and hear their recitations of the Quran. They record these good deeds in their Scrolls to report back to Allah.

“Angels take turns among you by night and by day, and they all assemble at the dawn and afternoon prayers,” the Prophet Mohammed said.

“Those [of the angels] who spend the night among you, then, ascend, and their Lord asks them, though He is the best informed about the matter: How did you leave My servants? They respond: We left them while they were praying and we came to them while they were praying.”

Oath by Fajr

 ”By the dawn” Allah says.

When Allah (Swt) makes an oath in the Quran, He (swt) emphasizes its importance. Similarly,Allah has emphasized the time of Fajr.

The two Sunan Rakahs of Fajr prayer are better than the entire world!

“Two Rakahs of prayer before the Fajr (Fardh) prayer are better than the world and whatever is in it.” The prophet (pbuh) said.

When we ponder on this hadith, we end up asking ourselves about what we are even aiming for in this Dunya. It makes us realize how small our worldly matters actually are.

Whoever prays the Fajr prayer comes under the protection of Allah

Worshippers who pray Fajr are also privy to special protection from Allah.

The prophet (pbuh) says:

“He who performs the Fajr will be under the protection of Allah.”

The recitation of Qur’an at Fajr is witnessed

Allah says:

“Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and recite the Qur’an at Fajr. Indeed, the recitation of Fajr is ever witnessed.”

Who is it witnessed by? The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) recited this verse, ‘And recite the Qur’an during the Fajr. Verily, the recitation of the Qur’an during Fajr is ever witnessed.’ And said, “It is witnessed by the angels of the night and the day.”
