Ibn Subayh said: A man complained to al-Hassan that water is scarce (not enough to water the land) He said: Seek forgiveness from Allah (Make Istighfar)!
Another complained of poverty, al-Hassan said to him: Seek forgiveness form Allah.
Another said: Pray to Allah to bless me with a child. Al-Hassan said: Seek forgiveness from Allah.
Another complained of the dryness of his garden. He said: Seek forgiveness from Allah.
We asked him about what he said (Giving the same answer). He said: I did not say anything new. Almighty Allah says in Surat Noah: "I said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord: He is ever forgiving. 11 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you. 12 He will give you wealth and sons; He will provide you with gardens and rivers.'"
