Duha is the forenoon nafl prayer with at least 2 rak’ahs. Its time begins after the sun fully rises and it ends about few minutes before the Zuhr prayer. The dhuha prayer procedure is the same as the sunnah prayer in general with a minimum of two rakaat and a maximum of 12 cycles.
Forgiveness of Sins
Duha prayer expiates one’s sins as the prophet (saw) said:
“Whoever gets used to the dhuha prayer, his sins will be forgiven even if it is as much as the foam in the ocean.” (At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).
Other narrations also explain the benefits of praying dhuha:
“Whoever remains silent in his mosque or prayer place after the Fajr prayer because he is doing iktikaf, dhikr, and performing two rak’ahs of the dhuha prayer and not saying anything except goodness, then his sins will be forgiven even though they are more than foam in the ocean.” (Narrated by Abu Dawud).
Smooth sustenance!
Whoever wants to increase their sustenance shall maintain the Salah of Duah as Allah’s apostle (saw) said:
“Allah ‘swt said: “O Son of Adam, do not ever be lazy to do four rak’ahs in the early afternoon (duha prayer), later I will fulfill your needs in the end (afternoon).” (Narrated by David, Ahmad, Tirmidz).
Avoid the unwanted!
Duha prayer saves you from the bad on your day! He (saw) said:
“Whoever prays Duha two rak’ahs, then he is not written as a negligent person. Whoever does it as much as four rak’ahs, it is written as a person who is an expert in worship. Whoever does it six cycles will be saved on that day. Whoever does it eight rak’ahs, Allah will write him as an obedient person. And whoever does it twelve cycles, Allah will build a house in Paradise for him.” (HR. At-Thabrani).
Following the prophet footsteps!
It’s the messenger’s cherished habit! Abu Hurairah reported:
“My Khalil [the Messenger of Allah (saw)] directed me to fast three days of each month, and to observe two Rak’ah Duha (optional prayer) at forenoon, and to perform the Witr prayer before going to bed.”
It’s the Salah of those who repent
Duha prayer is exclusive to those who are conscious of their Lord!
“Only the repentant (Awab) preserves the forenoon prayer, and it is the prayer of those who repent (Salatul Awabeen).”
