Al-Ma'moun Intelligence and Quick Wit!

Ibn Oyaynah said that al-Ma'moun was sitting when a woman came. She said: My brother died and he left 600 dinars. They gave me one dinar, and said this is your inheritance share.

Al-Ma'moun calculated the percentage and said… Was he survived by four daughters?

She said: Yes.

He said: They got four hundred dinars.

She said: Yes. He said: A mother who took a hundred dinar, and a wife who took 75 dinars…and By Allah, do you have 12 brothers??

She said: Yes.

He said: For each of them 2 dinars and you got 1 dinar.
